Perspective

My daughter's and I tried our hand at square foot gardening this year. We had much success in some things and it was a learning year in others. One thing that we had been told and then forgot when we planted was to not have melons near squash/cucumbers/zucchini. Yesterday we harvested the only two watermelons that we got.

They look pretty don't they? Well the next picture will give you a little "perspective" on how they really looked...

Oh yes we were laughing. But Libby still cut them open and ate the larger one and said it tasted really good. But the smaller one smelled peculiar almost like... cucumbers. I told the girls next year we will have to work a little harder on placement and giving the gardens a little more consistent TLC.

Freeze Advisory, Grr!

I was all ready/excited to plant my garden today until hubby called on his way to work this morning and said that there is a freeze advisory out for tonight. Bummer. Tomorrow you will find me in my garden planting all the veggies and fruit that we bought on Monday at Motman's with Brandon's help. Thank you Brandon!

This isn't a very good picture of the garden because I was too lazy to walk out and take a good picture but this is after Brandon tilled it up for me. I raked out the clumps of sod this past Friday.

Here is how I spent part of my Memorial Day....

It is going to kill me that my sister lives 57 miles north of us. I am going to have to take out a small loan just to cover the gas.
Smiles!
