Wordless Wednesday-Traditions

Every year I give my kids pj's on Christmas Eve and we take a Christmas picture.

I couldn't help but wonder while taking this picture about how many more years I will have them all home on Christmas Eve.

A picture for Kat

I noticed that in this picture of Emily I got my "Christmas headboard" in the background. I got this idea form Kat and Mark really likes it also. I think I will be doing this every year. Thanks Kat for sharing this idea!

Still making up for lost time...

Some more fun Christmas memories. Anna wanted Guitar Hero III for our PS2 this year for Christmas. Well around here it was hard to get your hands on it. We went to 4 different stores in 2 different cities one Saturday but we were finally successful.

I told Anna to not get too upset if she didn't get it because it is hard to find right now. She might have to wait for her birthday in February. So just to keep the suspense going I wrapped a cassette tape box with a note inside for an IOU one Guitar Hero III.

She was still thrilled when she opened it even though she thought she would be waiting to get the actual gift. Then I mentioned that we could look for it in the stores tomorrow or you could just go up to my closet and get it now. She flew off the couch and her brother was going to try to beat her but she left him in the dust.

You can see from the last picture she was one happy girl.
Good Memories!

A few more Christmas Memories.

For Mark's family party we rented out a banquet room at a local hotel. This is a great idea if your family is too big to fit in a living room. It cost us $50 and we had the room all day and we had use of the pool all day. We got there around 4pm so the kids could get some swimming in before we had a potluck at 5:30pm. It is really nice to not have to deal with the clean up like you have if it is in your own house.

Doesn't Mark look like he wants another baby? This is his great-nephew, Logan. He is just the sweetest happiest baby and he loves Mark. On a side note, that brand new shirt Mark is wearing he got from work. It has a work logo on it. Well needless to say his wonderful wife washed it with Zack's new jeans and they bled on it. Anyone have any tips for fixing that? I caught it before it went into the dryer but I think it is still a lost cause. Bummer!

The handsome fella on my lap is also a great-nephew, Josiah. He stole my heart when he came over to me and asked me if he could sit on my lap. Are ya kiddin? What are you waiting for, jump on up here.

This last picture is just too funny to not include. It is Logan's brother, Tusla, jumping into the pool. Isn't that just the best picture?

Making up for lost time.

Here are my kiddos in their Christmas PJ's. Anna told me that I should start taking the picture Christmas Eve instead of Christmas morning so that everyone would look a little more "with it".

Here is a picture taken Christmas morning at my folk's house of all of their Grandkids. I should have asked the kids to look at me because I can tell all of them except Kendra are looking at my sister who was also taking pictures.

It's a Girl!

You know that ticker on my side bar of that baby that has some 130+ days to go? Well yesterday we found out that it will be a girl! I am so excited to get busy making girlie stuff. My sister is doing well and is now in maternity clothes. It is fun to watch her grow.

Yummy!

Friday night Melissa stopped by and dropped off a wonderful surprise Christmas gift of homemade goodies that she spent all afternoon making and an individual little gift for every member of our family. The picture only shows a small portion of what she gave us. We love you Melissa!!!

Saturday was our family Christmas baking day. To start the day Kaylyn and I made Stuffed French Toast that I got from Sarah. Although I didn't make the Fruit topping for it even though it sounded absolutely delicious to me I don't think the rest of the clan would have been brave enough to try it over their much loved maple syrup.

Once everyone was fed it was time to get busy. First on our list was a recipe that Lauren shared from Family Fun for Holiday Pretzel Squares.

Next up, Easy Peanut Butter Cookies we were going to dip these in chocolate like this but I miss calculated my chocolate and ran short. They taste great anyway so we will save that thought for later.

Somewhere in there we also made White Chocolate Chex Mix.

After that we moved on to dipped pretzel rods. I just melt some chocolate squares. After they dip them in the chocolate they rolled them in chopped peppermint, chopped nuts, or rice crispies.

The last thing on the agenda was Peanut Clusters. This is a super easy recipe. It sits in the crock pot while we make the other stuff and then you just drop it by spoonful onto parchment paper.

Anna thought we also needed a couple pictures of the messy kitchen. The sad thing is I left it not much better than these pictures because Mark and I had to be at a wedding at 2pm.

Anna and Kaylyn did a great job of getting all the food taken care of while we were gone. My most wonderful hubby cleaned up the rest of the kitchen after church this morning. I had to stay for 2nd service to help in YC&W. I love that man!

As I type he is cleaning up from making eggs, bacon, and toast from homemade bread a wonderful lady from church, Noreen, gave us. She loves Mark so we are blessed with her homemade bread on occasion and he blesses her with flowers from work.
